Once in a Blue Moon – Playing with your “No”

As a woman, does your "no" come as often as a blue moon?

Do you rarely say “no”?

And when you do, do you feel like a “bad person”?

Welcome to the club: I experience this too!

Especially recently, when I was given a series of “not-so-good things for Nancy” and I still had a hard time saying “no”.

The full moon in May 2026 is special, for we have 2 of them this month!

Hence the term “blue moon,” which means rare, because this only happens about every 2.8 years.

The first full moon is May 1st; the second one, the “blue moon,” is May 31st.

On this blue moon evening, I invite you to explore your relationship with “no” and and to play with your “no”.

This is a unique time to get to know your "no."

Perhaps there is fury, sadness, or helplessness underneath the “no.”

These feelings need to be witnessed and cared for within the structures of sisterhood, ritual, and play.

Come howl at the moon, be loud, move, express yourself, and explore your feelings and needs.

You’ll walk away with a better understanding of your “no” and perhaps the courage and support you need to go forward.

Why work with me?

Hi I am Nancy.

I enjoy bringing people together to co-explore meaning-making, community, and ritual.

I have done my own moon howling since the summer of 2024 – alone and with female friends.

Since 2025, I’ve hosted Moon Night Gatherings for all women.

I want to contribute to the sense of togetherness among women – that it is ok to show up with all our feelings and needs.

Past gathering themes include: anger, sadness, and listening to the trickster.

Testimonials for Moon Night Gathering:

What Anna E. appreciated:

“I appreciated how Nancy created a safe environment where I felt comfortable being open and vulnerable. The first few exercises seemed silly at first, but really did help me feel less guarded. Much of what we did that was non-verbal. There was one exercise that showed me how important it is for us to be witnessed and see that reflected back to us. Being in the dark was helpful! I sometimes have trouble with eye contact and being perceived, but the low light took away that pressure.”

Hear from Jo L.:

“As someone who has been processing a lot of griefs and navigating life changes mostly on my own, I immediately jumped at the chance to do so in community. To be able to do so in nature and in the light of the full moon was a bonus, and ended up making me feel connected and seen in more ways than I expected. Nancy is a great facilitator and validator – I really appreciate her initiative and leadership in terms of expanding this circle and this opportunity to more women. I hope to meet more of you on future moon night gatherings!”

Kori H.'s experience:

“It is rare to have the opportunity to raise my voice as a woman. Nancy creates the space and ceremony that allows me to let out my anger, stress, and pain! Doing this in the company of other women out in nature has been healing and cathartic beyond my expectations. “
