These lesson plans and activities are designed to complement your current curriculum by helping students understand the motivations and emotions of the characters in the story and then connect with their own motivations. Before doing these lesson plans, first read “Let’s Make A Cake!” picture book to the students to create interest in the concepts of: 

  • Sharing – social awareness
  • Encouragement – relationship skills
  • Motivation – self-awareness
  • Trying new things / exploring – responsible decision making
  • You are the cake! – self-management
